It was a very hot summer’s day as I walked my grandchildren around the park. Desperately wanting to leave the sweltering confines of the pram, the oldest grandchild Ezekiel, asked permission to play near the lake. So I parked the pram under a bridge and allowed the boys to dangle their feet in the water – their body temperatures cooled down quickly as they played blissfully on the bank.
As I watched them play, it reminded me of the scripture Jesus spoke in John 4:14, “…but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”
Time spent with Jesus is indeed refreshing, His presence, His Word totally satisfies my soul. Jesus calls us all on a daily basis to “come to Him”, to stop and take time out to acknowledge His amazingly refreshing presence in our lives.
