The Great Teacher, when teaching us to pray, begins with “Our Father”. Right from the very first word of this wonderful prayer, we are reminded that we share our Heavenly Father with brothers and sisters – none of us fall into the category of an “only child”. I know of a family where when the adult children speak of their father in the presence of their siblings, they say, “my dad this…” and “my dad that…” They totally ignore the fact that their father is also their siblings’ father. Our Heavenly Father doesn’t want us to have this exclusive attitude. He wants us to be ever mindful that we are a part of a loving family who share in the joy of knowing Him. To truly demonstrate our love for our Father, is to love our brothers and sisters and acknowledge them in prayer.
